What is pqblocks-policy?¶
Policy-as-code engine for evaluating cryptographic posture, post-quantum compliance, and cryptographic bill of materials (CBOM) conformance.
pqblocks-policy allows organizations to define, enforce, and audit cryptographic governance rules across systems, APIs, TLS endpoints, and software dependencies against modern post-quantum standards including NIST FIPS 203/204/205 and NSA CNSA 2.0.
Install¶
PyPI release staged
pqblocks-policy installs from its GitHub repository while the PyPI release is staged. The import name and API are identical either way.
Quickstart¶
Executed, not just written
This is the quickstart from the package README. It was run against the package source when this page was generated.
from pqblocks_policy import PolicyEngine, cnsa20_default, Asset, UsageClass
# 1. Load the default CNSA 2.0 profile
profile = cnsa20_default()
engine = PolicyEngine(profile)
# 2. Define a cryptographic asset to evaluate
asset = Asset(ref="tls-session-1", alg="ML-KEM-768+X25519", use=UsageClass.KEY_EXCHANGE)
# 3. Evaluate compliance
report = engine.evaluate([asset])
print(f"Verdict: {report.verdict.value} | Assets: {report.asset_count} | Violations: {report.violation_count}")

Documentation and evidence¶
Every PQBlocks package ships the same evidence set, so each claim can be checked against tests, sources and measurements.

-
Correct imports, pitfalls and rules for coding assistants.
-
What it protects, hostile input, constant-time and audit status.
-
Test suites, coverage, vectors and what is not covered.
-
Measured performance, including where it loses.
